On Saturday I was reading Matthew Henry’s Commentary on Galatians and something written in it resonated with me. “The life of a Christian is a race, wherein he must run, and hold on, if he would obtain the prize. It is not enough that we run in this race, by a profession of Christianity, but we must run well, by living up to that profession.”
Now if I had paid attention to this two or three years ago, I would have immediately thought after reading it, “that’s easier said than done.” You see, for me, living up to the profession of Christianity was very hard to do, and I oftentimes failed miserably at it even with having the Holy Ghost
BUT THE DEVIL IS A LIAR, and I can live a victorious life if I keep the faith in what JESUS CHRIST did for me on Calvary’s Cross, don’t give up, fellowship with God daily by praying and reading His Word, attend church on a regular basis, and accept the fact that I can do nothing without God’s help.
AND YOU CAN TOO! There is no shame in the Body of Christ and every day is a new day. What the world sees as failure because we fall down, God recognizes as faith because we get up. I made up my mind to stay in the race and will run well if I do it God's way. The Christian hymn writer, John H. Sammis, explained it best in 1887 when he wrote “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way; to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”
Keep walking towards the Cross. DON’T GIVE UP! Stay mindful of JESUS CHRIST and the sacrifice that He made so that those who accept Him could live. Continue to believe you are who God says you are, and guard your thoughts as you fight the good fight of faith!
Until the next time, remember Jesus loves you. Peace & Blessings.
HEBREWS 12:1-2
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
