During a time when North Korea is launching ballistic nuclear missiles as it sees fit, federal funding for programs that serve our elderly and disenfranchised communities are on the chopping block, and many of our neighbors have had to leave their families to go back to a war that we don't know when we will get out of, our lawmakers are forced to investigate Twitter tweets made by our 45th President because he has alleged being wiretapped by our former 44th President with no proof whatsoever being offered. C'mon...
This is bigger than political parties at this point. It's about realistic expectations of the highest office in the United States of America and whether or not our elected legislative officials are providing a framework of leadership that we can believe in as citizens of our great country as well as leaving a blueprint of governance that our youth will aspire to imitate.
And so "what does this have to do with a Christian blog," one may ask? A lot, in my opinion. It's a reminder for adult Christians that we also have to provide a framework for non-believers and our youth. It's not about perfection but it is about effort and sometimes explanation when our failures are visible. We need to do all that we can to be effective witnesses for Jesus Christ as young Christians and "adult babies in Christ" attempt to calibrate living a "holy" and "set apart" life in a world that they are no longer a part of. A world that they are in but a world that they are not of.
