Note added 8/18/2018: It's unfortunate but sadly true that evil can be found in the church. The church is made up of people and some of them mask their unrepentant works of the flesh pretending to live by the Spirit under the guise of religion. God is not evil, however, and "the eyes of the Lord are in every place beholding the evil and the good" (Proverbs 15:3) Let us, as Believers in our Risen Savior Jesus Christ, continue to pray for the universal church so that God is glorified in the Body of Christ.
Through the eyes of a spectator, one would see that most Christians – Catholic, Protestant, and Messianic Jew alike - sing praises in unison when expressing who Jesus Christ is and what He did on Calvary’s Cross. The beat and the rhythm may differ but he or she would see that the thing that binds God’s children together is stronger than the “denominational” differences that make us appear as if we were torn apart. He or she would see that we are “One Body of Christ” made up of many members who are all trying to work out our own salvation.
The Body of Christ is beautiful and robust; full of life that is manifested in a variety of ways. It’s a unique living organism that does not require everyone to be the same in order to be a part of it. We are bound together by the Blood of Jesus Christ and His blood makes us one.
If you are that onlooker, and for whatever reason have convinced yourself that you don’t need to go to “church,” why not pray to God and ask Him to give you wisdom concerning this matter. I believe if you take time to pray, God will lead you to a church where you can grow spiritually and thrive as a Christian. And if you keep your eyes on Jesus and trust God to lead you to where you need to be, you’ll arrive there sooner than you think and will know it is the place you were sent.
Hebrews 10:19-25
A Call to Persevere
19 Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,
20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh),
21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
22 let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds,
25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (NRSV)

The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
