My church had a Bible Cake service on Friday night; and although I was one of the seven speakers asked to present a 15-minute homily on one of the cake’s ingredients, I found the last speaker to be the most memorable. All of those who spoke were edifying – although one or two did rebuke - however, the last person posed a powerful question at the end of her discourse which stayed with me throughout the weekend. She asked everyone present to ask themselves: “What would the world be like if everybody was like me?” Wow! Think about that for a moment. What would the world be like if everyone was like you?
One cannot consider this question if he or she is not willing to be completely honest about who he or she really is. That’s the hurdle for some folks. It’s too painful and ugly to CALL IT OUT, however, before we can affirm who we hope to be, we must be willing to acknowledge who we are not and especially when who we are not causes us to sin. The GOOD NEWS for Believers is that when we do sin – even though we are expected not to sin – we have an advocate interceding on our behalf; and if we CONFESS and REPENT of the sin committed, JESUS CHRIST our REDEEMER, Who is “set down at the right hand of the throne of God” will be faithful to restore our fellowship with God.
