Hundreds of faith leaders from around the country and across different religious persuasions took to the streets on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 and joined Bishop William J. Barber and the Repairers of the Breach Team to: Cry Aloud and Attend Justice! I was there and as soon as we began to walk to the White House leaving The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, I felt the presence of the Lord and began to silently pray in my heavenly language. I was grateful to God for allowing me to be present for such a time as this.
As the assembly of rows of five turned and walked onto H Street, we passed Bishop Barber to our right, who was standing facing us with squinted eyes and who I perceived to be praying in the spirit most likely for God’s continued protection, leadership, and guidance over what our Father in Heaven has called into being. I perceived the Moral Monday Architect was also thanking God for His faithfulness in that what he was doing was clearly in the will of God as evidenced by the multitude of those who joined him and by those who also understood the call to action made known in the Holy Scriptures by way of the Prophets.
Although we faced challenges as a group in reaching our destination, we stood firm in faith believing we would get there, and we did. In the same way, although you and I may face challenges in reaching our own individual goals and destinations, we must also continue to stand firm in faith believing we will get there, and we will! “Therefore take up the whole armor of God so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” Ephesians 6:13 NRSV.
